Yes, that was the link, I just submitted it to DZone which'll probably give it more hits than posting a link here. I was originally talking about the first link, but the second one was also interesting.

Thanks, Andy.

I'm planning on reviewing quite a few companies. I move kind of slowly, though, because I always set up accounts and run through some tests before I do a review. It gives me a better feel for what is actually going on at a host. I pretty much started with the most popular companies, or companies I had already used, and am working from there.

I actually was planning on starting a trial with EasyCGI until I read your post. Now I'm not so enthusiastic. I may give Jumpline a look. They are fairly expensive for a shared host, but they have plans where you can pick how populated your shared server is, which is sort of interesting.

I'm not sure which link you were looking for because I've done a couple, with a few more to come, that included info on bots. The biggest one was here, but included a lot of other stuff:http://hosting-website.biz/2009/07/shared-hosting-driving-you-nuts/

The more recent one, which dealt with Wordpress and handling it mostly with the Bad Behavior plugin, was here: http://hosting-website.biz/2009/08/stealing-your-server-bots/

Hey there,

I dropped a comment back on your other thread. Moving can be troublesome, but I only really have my blog and I just FTP'd my stuff down overnight. I'm in the middle of a post regarding choosing hosting, but yes, it seems like the only thing being covered right now is the bigger budget hosting. For many people, techies especially, paying a few more bucks a month isn't a big deal for a host that is a little more reliable. I pay a few bucks a month just for subversion hosting.

Since you are into reviewing hosts, maybe you want to cover a few of the less mentioned hosts that provide a decent service for more than $3.95 a month.

Cheers,

So who did you end up moving to? Your site seems to be reacting very quickly right now.

You had left a message on one of my blogs about web hosting. I'm just a GoDaddy reseller, though I couldn't mention that on my blog due to the terms of the contract, likely because I can undercut their pricing.

Looks like you've found a good spot. Moving is a major pain. I had to move a site that had become too popular for Bluehost. They just shut my site down one day due to traffic and put a big notice up saying that the site owner should contact the abuse department.

I lost part of my database in the move, which took place over the course of a week while the "abuse" page was up. I ended up repopulating some of my most recent data from Google cache. That's no fun. Also, that was last February, and I still don't have all my traffic back. Of course, had I known the site would be so popular, I wouldn't have put it with a shared host.

Needless to say, Bluehost isn't at the top of my list of favorite hosting companies.
